The MG6 Fastback is the landmark model – a sporty hatchback with a coupe-like roofline and one which is targeting the UK big-guns of the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra.

It was driven off the production line by MG’s only female employee on the floor of its Birmingham factory, Lisa Ponter.

Ponter and the rest of the factory’s employees were at the official launch doing their best impressions of cardboard cut outs.

However, the majority of MG’s UK-based employees were denied their chance in the limelight after their faces were distorted by some shocking photography.

Hopefully the poor image won’t turn into an omen for the rejuvenated brand.
