Autocar has come up with its ‘perfect, 21st century sports car’ in its next edition as it looks to create the ‘blueprint for the perfect driver’s car’.
Nicknamed the BS1 – British Sportscars 1 – Autocar has won nothing for the name however it has fulfilled the difficult criteria of excitement and ‘real-world credentials’, according to Autocar’s editor-at-large and BS1 visionary, Steve Sutcliffe.
The BS1 will take centre stage in a feature written by Sutcliffe outlining the skills and characteristics of the two-seat open-top which will cost £35,000.
“It will look low, wide, mean and beautiful, and will be utterly irresistible to its intended audience,” said Sutcliffe; however he failed to mention the salmon pink paintjob.
It will be made from aluminium, glassfibre-reinforced plastic and carbonfibre in a spaceframe chassis and house a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine from Volkswagen.
Whether a 1,000kg sportscar for £35,000 could ever be feasible or not, it’s a nice idea from Autocar.
