MotorTorque Tumbles
Vorsprung durch Technik.
It’s probably the most famous tagline in the motor industry and Audi is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
It was first introduced in 1971 as part of a marketing campaign in Germany however the UK had to wait until 1983 to get wind of the phrase whose literal translation is ‘advancement through technology’.
Since then it has featured heavily in Audi’s numerous advertising campaigns and even made it into one of Blur’s most famous singles, ‘Parklife’, and films including Guy Ritchie’s ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’.
To celebrate its anniversary Audi has released a range of images from the birth of the phrase.
